Explore The Issues With Ambassador Pickering

Ambassador Thomas Pickering is known as one of the most decorated and respected US diplomats in history. He has served as the US ambassador to the United Nations, Russia, India, Israel, Nigeria, El Salvador, and Jordan. In addition, he served as the Undersecretary of State for Political Affairs at the US State Department. 

Join Ambassador PIckering in for a socratic style discussion on several current issues in world affairs. This even will focus on several possible themes: 

1) EU Dependence on Russian Energy

2) Russia/Ukraine

3) US Hegemony

HERE'S HOW IT WORKS: 

Ambassador Pickering will start each theme by offering an open ended question. Students will raise their hands and one will be chosen to respond. That student will go back and forth with Ambassador Pickering. We will then select another student to continue the conversation where they will get their chance to go 1-1 with the ambassador. With multiple themes and questions about ongoing issues in the world, many of you will get your chance to share your opinions with the ambassador. 

This is your chance to engage with one of our nation's most experienced diplomats. Moreover, this is your chance to learn the subtle nuances that makes diplomacy so complex.
